There are two rooms dedicated to the toddlers. These rooms are for children between two and three years. One room is designed for all art and messy activities in which they are able to experiment with paint, glue, drawing, threading, play-dough etc. The other room is for all imaginative and free flow play. At this stage children are developing and growing quickly and they learn to share and are able to make friends. The children’s work is always valued and displayed and this gives them a sense of achievement and boosts confidence. Beds are also provided in this room and children are again encouraged to have a rest after lunchtime. The Pre-School room is dedicated to children between the ages of three and five years. The pre-schoolers follow the 3-5 curriculum as laid down by the Scottish Office.
A stimulating and supportive environment is created in this room to help the children develop new abilities and learn new skills. This room is more structured and number, letters, shapes etc are beginning to be introduced.
Although song time, story time and circle time are encouraged at all levels they are more advanced at this stage. Consideration is given to the child’s age and ability when organising activities.
Staff work in close partnership with parents and see them as their child’s main educator. We are also in partnership with Fife Council and qualify for government funding for children over three. |
