The ground floor is dedicated to the babies with two playrooms that separate the Babies and Tweenies. The babies range from 6 weeks until they are 1 or are able to move around freely on their own and to progress to the Tweenies.
Our baby room provides a cosy and homely atmosphere decorated with wall murals and artwork that encourage stimulation. All toys and equipment in this room help the children to develop at their own pace. These include rattles, musical instruments, play gyms etc that all encourage hand and eye co-ordination, listening skills and general development.
Play is encouraged at floor level where babies can move freely and interact with other staff and children. There are also cots available in the room for sleep times where sheets are changed for every child, and highchairs for snack and meal times.
The tweenie room is dedicated for children between the ages of 1 and 2 years. In this room we follow individual patterns for each child dependent upon the stage of development but establish a daily routine to provide stability. At this stage they are given space to explore their surroundings.
They are encouraged to sit at the table and begin to feed themselves to promote independence and self-esteem. Beds are provided for sleep time and children are encouraged to have a short nap after lunch. Wide ranges of toys are provided from books to puzzles, to messy activities to help develop movement skills. |
